What happens if my shunt trip system fails the test?If your shunt trip system doesn’t work correctly, it can expose firefighters and other first responders to live electricity. This problem requires immediate repair service, as it’s a violation of code compliance. Building owners must take the elevator out of service or red tag it until the necessary repairs are complete and professionals have retested the unit.

Who is qualified to perform shunt trip testing in WA?A Class 1 electrician or a fire or life safety contractor can conduct a fire alarm shunt trip test.
